Marhta Teahan: there is only one way to learn how to recognize a particular artist's work and that is by looking at what he has done. No one here can really help you with this, other than to advise you along the lines I am. First of all, how do you know that what someone says here is accurate. The person could mean well and steer you wrong. You will be able to tell if he did something by his style. You have to go to Google and put in the name and see what comes up. Inell Riesgo: ok, I had an assignment once to find out particularly about the artist i am reseaching and had such a hard time figuring it out. I had to think outside the box. What you might want to do is go to the library, yes, the library, although you can use the internet as well, the library i find has a much better hands on variety. Look into the life and works of this person. Find out, what he liked, disliked, wa! s known to be interested in, maybe even outside of art. Find out about the time period in which he painted these works, and exactly what was going on art wise around that time, which would be what gave him his inspiration in the type of work he created. Example would be, in the time period of the man i researched, the art works were based on what was going on at the time. AT that time there was alot of fertility and gender questions,etc.. so i figured out that the drawing was not only a picture of a woman shaped like a pear, but it was about fertility, and the painting he painted was a falic symbol. GET IT? so research that era, check out some art work in these books in the library, make color copies for reference and comparison, and then go checking out YOUR artist, and make those color copies, and compare and contrast. What makes his work look different in the time period he drew in, compared to everyone else? Hope this helped....Show more
