Lawanna Livsey: Its not uncommon with slim line laptops to not have a CD/DVD drive thats how the manufacturers can get the laptop to be thinYou will need and external CD/DVD drive if you want to use discs
Mozell Sponsler: You don't really need an optical drive on a 13.3" machine. It generally drains the battery when used as well. You should use an external HDD drive or a flash drive for installation & accessing files. Also, you can get an external DVD Burner which uses USB connectivity & is pretty handy too.
Abel Adger: the same as one with an optical drive ......... only without it. you dont need it. its just a convenience . install from usb or sd card. if you feel you need one, just buy a smal external usb optical drive. they are not that much these days
Giovanna Cramblit: CDs are become dead forms of media (as far as computers are concerned). With the ever-increasing speed of the internet and how inexpensive flash memory has become, the optical drive may! soon meet the same fate as the floppy drive.Instead of using CDs/DVDs manufacturers are starting to employ the use of USB flash drives. Many companies have dropped the physical medium altogether. Some Companies just create a download store, where you pay for something you want and you're allowed to download it directly to your computer. No optical drive needed. Many systems allow you to boot from a USB drive (except older systems). Anything you can do with a CD, you can now do with a USB drive... and you can usually do it cheaper too.If you do, however, still need an optical drive you can simply buy an external USB optical drive....Show more
Debora Rinderer: That's why God created external drives & USB flash drives...
