Dick Ovdenk: i think having a phone in elementary or middle school is dumb but in high school it really is a necessity. i would be lost and probably a loner without my cell phone. i definitely suggest you ask

Houston Venezia: You could buy a prepaid cell phone and pay for your own calls. The cost depends on how much you use it but it could be less than $30 a month.
Thurman Buege: I'm not on board with kids and cell phones. However, if your parents have chosen to eliminate the landline, I think a cell phone becomes a necessity. Please note, I said cell phone. I did not say texting or data.
