Mel Crapo: Well the clue is in the name. The food industry is a user of the technique although from what I'm aware of, there's very little that is actually used because the ill informed public think it means their food is radioactive. Of course you're irradiating food ever time you use a microwave, but radioactivity has nothing to do with it. I suppose physical chemists, nuclear physicists and cell biologists would show interest in the use of food irradiation, but all probably working either for a food manufacturer or a food standards agency....Show more
